Welcome Weekend Writing Warriors!
Weekend writing Warriors is a weekly bloghop. Each week, participants sign up HERE at wewriwa.com, then post 8 sentences of their work, published ot unpublished, to go live between noon, Saturday and 9:00 AM Sunday EST Then we visit each other and read, comment, critique, encourage--all those things that do a solitary writer's heart good.
Here is your little girl’s
first loose tooth, six
years of pearly growth
down the drain.
No, literally, it went
down the drain.
Your son, though
younger, her champion,
composed of freckles and
energy, shovels every
ditch, certain he will
recover her lost treasure.
You see, they know loss
And they seek what is lost.

Lovely.
ReplyDelete"... composed of freckles and energy..." Such a creative description of a child. And "her champion" shows what a bond you and he have. :-)
Welcome to wewriwa :-) !
Thank you :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and heartbreaking poem. Beautiful job and welcome to the group :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jess. Poetry is the pearl of heartbreak!
ReplyDelete: ) I love the sons certainty, he will be her hero!
ReplyDeleteSo funny how kids from the same genes and family turn out so differently. One can spend a lifetime in her head while the other just moves forwards without hesitation. The world needs both, I'd say. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteThis is the most wonderful, captivating and heartbreaking ode to childhood. Welcome to WeWriWa. I'm glad you're here. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Dana. And thank you for having me. This is quite an experience, like unzipping my jacket in a crowded room and well, damn, there's my soul. :-)
DeleteI like it, unusual. Always nice to have poetry in the mix on the loop!
